Our seventh season, like the last one, is opened by GNILYF. As every year, his mixtape is a dialogue with himself, his imagination and its manifestations in the form of creativity. What connects idea, work, artist and audience, and how can fantasy be made most immediately tangible ?

In order to get to the core of the question, it is advisable not only to judge the work of an artist by her/his work, but also to place her/him and her/his work in the given context. At the beginning of her/his work, the artist herself/himself is often surprised by what she/he creates. Everything is new and unexplored, the possibilities of imagination and creativity seem endless. But soon she/he has to realize soberingly that fantasy and creativity are not one and the same. Between imagination and creativity lie many layers and filters which have a great effect on the creation. Sociality, adolescence, experiences and time have a strong influence on how unfiltered fantasy becomes creativity. By the way, this is also true for the viewer of the work and that is exactly why artists and consumers can learn a lot from each other. This is not about bringing each other into harmony or necessarily pleasing the other. Rather, it is about challenging each other and generating and sharing a new experience. Art should not just please, art should surprise.
